Yes, training has begun. Can I take a nap now?
Okay, so it wasn't that grueling but I'm still tired! We got to say our hellos and meet the other new Assistant Residence Directors (ARDs), fill out payroll forms, look over our schedule for the following two weeks, and tour each and every residence hall. In 80 degree weather.
As far as the new ARDs go, no one has threatened bodily harm yet so I think we'll work fairly well together! Okay, now I'm just getting silly... I really am looking forward to working and learning with these people.
Today we had our second day of training. We learned about the vision, mission, and values of CSU's Housing and Dining Services (HDS) from Mari and Jim. They were both warm and welcoming and they sound like people I could go to for help.
We also had training with GUIDE (Gaining Understanding through Involvement, Diversity, and Education). It sounds like they do tons of programs! HDS must really value and support their work.
Then it was off to lunch in Corbett Hall.
We were supposed to get training on the computer programs we will be using this year but that was rescheduled... so it was time for some RD/ARD mini shenanigans. Jess and I met up in Westfall to get to know each other better and get started on plans for the upcoming year.
So far we've decided to cover the floors in tacky glue. We'll see where that takes us... Now for the weekend!!
